EARLY MUSIC MASTERCLASSES


Orchestra work, vocal, choir and dance masterclasses with the performance of:

Purcell: The Fairy Queen.

The opera show will be performed in costumes with staged scenes

with Savaria Baroque Orchestra and Pal Nemeth conducting

at the Park of the Royal Palace of Godollo on the 20th August 2023.

Date: 14-20. August 2023. 

Every day 10.00-13.00 - masterclasses

Every day 14.00-18.00 - rehearsals together to prepare the final production of the Fairy Queen

Masterclasses and professors: 

Applications are open for roles in the opera:

Purcell: Fairy Queen:

- vocal soloist rolls (soprano, alt, tenor, countertenor, baritone/bass) 

- choir singers (soprano, alt, tenor, baritone/bass)

- dancers

Instrumental parts: 

- violin

- viola

- cello

- double bass

- harpsichord

- recorders

- oboe

- trumpet

- percussion

Director - Frauke Jürgensen (University for Music and Performing Arts)

Conductor: Pal Nemeth (Savaria Baroque Orchestra) 

Violin and strings:  Piroska Vitarius 

Recorders and woodwinds and brass: Katalin Kallay, Gabor Kallay 

Cello and bass: Agnes Kallay

Vocal: Judit Andrejszki (Honour of Liszt), Mariza Anastasiades (Cyprus) Judit Felszeghy (UK) Laszlo Blaskovics 

Chamber music:  Gabor Kallay, Pal Nemeth, Andrea Molnar

Tuition fees:

​

Active participants:  350 

Registration fee (part of the active participation fee): 100 

Registration deadline:  20th July 2023. 

Passive participation (listener): free entrance to masterclasses with a paid day ticket to the Palace.

Payment:

Payment: Payment information will be sent via email to applicants. The participant is responsible for paying the extra costs of the bank transfer.

​

​

About the masterclasses: 

​

During the course the active participants will receive daily a 50 minute-lesson, performing opportunities at the festival and at the final opera production on the 20th August. 

After applying, you can communicate with the professors about repertoire and all other questions. Pitch for early music and the Purcell opera is A= 415 Hz Later music and opera arias, accompanied by piano are at A= 440 Hz. Tuition languages: English, Hungarian At the end of the course you will get a certificate of participation and completion.

The participation fee include of:

- morning masterclass lessons

- afternoon  rehearsals together

- performing opportunities at the festival

- passive participation at other masterclasses

- free entrance for the festival concerts

- 2 free tickets for the evening concerts of the festival

- free entrance to the Museum of the Royal Palace

​

We can make video recordings of your performance for an extra cost.

 

​

Accommodation: 

​​We can also help you find a good accommodation and nice food in Godollo, and will provide you with all the information you need. For lunch: Simple, traditional Hungarian food menu provided, for about 7 Euro / 2 course.

​​​In the event of the masterclass is being cancelled by the organizer due to unforeseen circumstances, the course and registration fees will be fully refunded. However, we are not responsible for any incidental expenses such as non-refundable travel fares and accommodation fees. If the participant forced to cancel due to circumstances beyond her/his control, the course fee is refundable, at the discretion of the organizer.
